Dr. Elie G. Haddad is a Professor of Architecture at the Lebanese American University, since 1994. He has been serving as the Dean of the School of Architecture & Design at LAU since October 2012.
Dr. Haddad holds a Ph.D. in Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania. He has taught several courses on the history and theory of modern architecture, as well as in urban design, which constitute the main areas of his research. He has published a number of essays in international journals on contemporary architecture in the Middle East, as well as on theoretical movements in Twentieth century architecture.
Dr. Haddad participated in several international conferences and delivered papers on topics such as “New Urban Patterns in an Era of Globalization” at the ACSA Conference in Connecticut (2010) and “What Went Wrong? Reflections on the Condition of Architecture and Urbanism” at the ARCC/EAAE conference in Philadelphia (2006).
Dr. Haddad is currently editing a collective book on Contemporary Architecture around the World [due 2014] and co-editing another book on Architecture against the Post-Political [due 2014].
In addition to the above, he is a regular contributor to the cultural supplement of the Nahar newspaper on topics of local architecture, urbanism, heritage and culture.
