Architect, city planner and designer, Jean-Michel Wilmotte was born in 1948 in Soissons (France). He founded his own architecture practice in Paris in 1975. Jean-Michel Wilmotte is recognised for his eclectic approach to architectural design and for continually striving to design and create with the highest quality materials and detailing. He undertakes projects at all scales and enjoys designing a light, a shop or a tramway as much as designing a museum, a high-rise building or master planning a new town. He never ceases to expand and diversify his knowledge, taking lessons from both France and abroad.
In 2005 Jean-Michel Wilmotte created the Wilmotte Foundation to encourage the highest standards of contemporary design and architecture amongst a new generation of architects. The Foundation aims to help detect and support young talents, to encourage the diffusion of our European architectural culture.
